Shiatsu has become very popular for treating sports injuries using deep tissue massage to free tight muscles and allow for quicker recovery, every person is different. The techniques of Shiatsu are applied with a depth of pressure appropriate to the client and their condition. Other regular examples such as frozen shoulders and knee and hip joint conditions are eased and loosened up to increase mobility and comfort. Acute conditions are quickly healed and of course chronic conditions often take a little longer. Exercises are given as a way to promote and maintain your health further at home.
The Shiatsu/physio massage can be applied with hands forearms, knees and feet techniques with different pressures and stretches to help calm and revitalise the problem area/s.
Occasionally clients only need a one off treatment - in a neck or back spasm but usually a course of 3 or 4 treatments will be needed to deal with more serious or ongoing issues. Some clients prefer weekly or fortnightly maintenance treatments to help sustain their mobility.
Shiatsu treatment is usually 1 hour.
Shiatsu is suitable for everyone, male, female, young, old, frail and strong.
The client stays fully clothed, in preferably loose clothing for treatment and the Shiatsu practitioner applies techniques with their hands to tonify or disperse shallow or high blood flow respectively and to suit the clients requirements. During treatment the client has options of being treated at floor level, on a chair or on a treatment couch.
